AOII CONVENTION 2011

Ever since I was an officer in the chapter I've wanted to attend AOII convention. So when AMy Hart Mills called and asked me to take her place, it was a no-brainer. And to no surprise, AOII Convention did not disappoint. THis year it was held in the hot but beautiful desert of Tucson, Arizona. It was a once in a lifetime experience (which I plan to experience several times). Knoxville Area Alumnae Chapter was proudly presented with the Ruby award. More notably, our very own Kandyce Harber was elected to the prestigious AOII Executive Board. Overall it was an unforgettable 4 days filled with sisterhood, Ritual, new friends, great food and lots of fun. I would recommend to anyone how has the chance to attend AOII Convention. Just as the AOII tagline promises, it exceeded my expectations.

Groundbreaking AOII HOUSE May 1, 2011

May 1st was an exciting day....It was groundbreaking day for the Morgan Hill Sorority Village....What an exciting time for the Knoxville Alumnae Chapter and the Omicron chapter on Tennessee's campus! A great big shout out to Ann Wallace for all her hard work, as well as the omicron building committee! This couldn't have happened without you!

We are still in need of funds!

If you’re one of our sisters who has not yet given, please consider a gift to this campaign – one that will help us make the difference in remaining a campus leader at UT for the long-term, and help other sisters – both present and future – experience all the joys of AOII that we had . . . joys, friendships and experiences that continue to make such an impact on our lives.

Giving is simple. Just go to www.omicronhouse.com, where you can download a giving form, which has all of the instructions for making your gift or pledge. Or, you can also call UT directly, (865) 974-2115, and just be sure you make your arrangements with UT where Alpha Omicron Pi is the designee. You can make a significant gift by pledging an amount that you pay over time, in increments that are convenient and manageable for whatever your budget is. Planned giving and bequests are also welcomed. In whatever way you choose to give, please take action . . . do it now. As an alumna, you will be proud of what this house will stand for in representing AOII at UT. But it won’t happen without support. Thanks so much! For more information about donating to the AOII building fund, contact Ann Wallace at 865-584-5813, awal5805@comcast.net.

Let the building begin!

THE 39 STEPS starring our own Tyra Tucker Haag

Tyra Haag, Knoxville Alum, stars in "The 39 Steps", now playing at the Oak Ridge Playhouse through May 15th! Get tickets here...

http://www.orplayhouse.com/

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced "whodunit" for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with with nonstop laughs, over 140 zany characters (dizzyingly played by a cast of four), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance! A man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a nationwide manhunt unfolds, climaxing in a death-defying finale. A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure. It's suspense, romance and comedy all wrapped into one that's great for ages 9 to 90!
